A trip out West

This week I took a trip with the intention of covering the shearing on a property near Cunnamulla in western Queensland. As I can't really be away from home for an extended period at the moment it was a very brief trip indeed and I worked out later that in two days 12 were spent in the car (thanks to roadworks that made the entire trip about 2 hours longer than usual) 7 hours sleeping and the rest madly taking photos.

I took three cameras with me, the Canon 7D, the Olympus Om D EM5 and the Olympus Om D EM1 plus sundry lenses. Might sound like an overkill and it sort of was as I mainly ended up using the 7D with 100mm and 50mm lenses and the EM1 with Voitlander 25mm, M.Zuiko 45mm and Panasonic 12-35mm. The EM5 just didn't want to take nice sharp pictures in the contrasty light of the shed that was alive with the movement of the shearers, shed hands and classers. It could have been me as I didn't have the patience or time to sit down and figure out why it was sulking.  The other two cameras behaved beautifully and were a real pleasure to use.

The shearing wasn't the only batch of photos that I took and below are the start of the road trip which I grabbed at Wyandra.
