Joy is currently an administration officer and is the first port of call on my daily visit to my Mum who has advanced dementia and is now in a care facility. Her lovely cheery smile has greeted me on some awful days. As part of my project each participant is asked a question: What did you want to be when you were a kid?
Joys answer: "A Barmaid!"
To say I was taken aback was somewhat of an understatement.
"And did you go on to be a barmaid?" I asked.
"Yep for 10 years" she replied.
Joy went on to explain that she had wanted to be a barmaid as she had thought it would be a good way to get over her innate shyness and also the experience would be an asset for travelling.

Now for a bit of explanation about the project:
So this is a new project designed to get me off my backside and taking photos. It is designed (by myself - genius I know) to do a couple of things:
(1) Give me an immediate and daily purpose for taking photos
(2) Conquer my reticence and shyness by forcing me to approach other people
(3) Build and interesting body of work
(4) Increase experience and skill
